GIAC is
the only national advocacy organization representing the cross section of firms
conducting geomatics activity in Canada.
The industry is a driving force of products and services that improve
the innovation, productivity and competitiveness of many sectors of the
Canadian economy. Employing about 23,000
highly-skilled specialists, the industry generates about $2.8 billion dollars
per year, and is responsible for $450 million of export revenue and $100
million annually in R&D. GIAC`s
recent advocacy activities have focused on the need for a national action plan
and investment to enhance Canada’s economy through the power of geomatics and
geo-information.
